This is the official Open Code Documentation. Because of the nature of the Open-Site Code, it became necessary to create an online documentation of the features included with the code package. This documentation is maintained by editall + editors, so new features may take some time before they are thoughoughly documented. Feature requests and bug reports on the OpenCode should be reported in the OpenCode forum, found in: the code directory.

Internationalization

The Open Site Code's interface is available in 16 languages and the list expands continually. Each user in the system has a section where he has the ability to select its preferences, including the language in which the web-based content management should be done. Also, public pages can be statically generated in a specified language, based on their location. In this way, admins can have all the content from one area in the same language. Because each language is identified by its own individual strings located in separate files, the removal or addition of languages can be done easily, allowing an English-only interface for those cases where additional ones aren't required and disk space is low.

Template System

Due to an efficient template system, the code can manage several objects, each one of them having special fields that can be fully customized. Instead of storing raw data, the code gives the possibility to predefine via an web interface different types of objects, and special fields for each one of them. This allows to have at any time a description for each field introduced, and gives wings to XML-based applications based on the stored content.

Description

The Open Site Code represents a professional open-source solution for powering, managing and serving content. It represents a software application dedicated to environments where information must be maintained and administered from a web-based interface, and after that rendered in real time and displayed to the public via HTML, XML or other similar protocols.

Logging and Reporting

Content management can be performed by thousands of editors. For each one, a logging system records every action performed, so it can be reviewed later in case this is required. Reporting based on the logs and on the actual data is another strong point of the system. At any time, up-to-date statistics about the evolution of the stored content are available for review.

Access Levels

Not all editors have the same access level. The site's admin can give to some users the ability to manage the user group. This includes the ability to add, remove, accept or reject areas from each editor's profile. "Regular" editors have a form which can be used in order to request new editing privs. Those requests can be evaluated and when a decision is made, a text can be pasted in order to be send by email. Also, private notes about the requestee can be left for other admins to be seen. At the bottom a log with the previous requests of that editor can be found. In this way, the system can be customized to give to each user only the required permissions; in this way the security of the project increases, and the risk of accidental changes is reduced to a minimum.

Polls

For your organization or company, polls will be always one-step away. This feature can be used to accentuate the sense of community, or to drive decision-making in the hands of the users. Using polls is a great way of giving the users a chance to express their opinions democratically, and can be used in some situations in order to solve peacefully some disputes. It is also a form of entertainment, funny polls being able to create humour and the relaxation needed in order to keep productivity inside your company at peak efficiency. Each poll has a title, a description and a list of options from which editors can make a choice.
