| A neural network is a processing system for information that consists of a collection of interconnected processing elements called neurodes. Some neural networks are modeled after their biological counterparts while others are not. Neural networks are used to perform tasks such as pattern recognition, classification, variable prediction, and many others. The knowledge contained in a neural network is typically in a form that is impossible to view or understand like the explicit rules of an expert system, or other similar machine intelligence method, where the knowledge is explicitly encoded into the system by a knowledge engineer or programmer. |
